Maui is the second largest Hawaiian Island.
It is home of the world's largest inactive volcano.
Because the Hawaiian Islands are so remote, there are many unique
animals and plants. Hawaii is the only US state that was once a
monarchy.
Maui has everything that you think of as Hawaiian: luaus, surfing,
tropical fruits, warm sandy beaches, and great island food. In
addition, it has many surprises: large cattle ranches, rodeo, winery,
and world class restaurants to name a few.
Tropical Rainforest
Every year, Maui is a contender for being the wettest spot on Earth.
But do not worry, the rain mainly falls on the east side of the
Island. Napili Sunset is on the west side where there are warm
tropical trade winds, and lots of sunshine.
Fun in the Sun
There are world class beaches around the Island of Maui. You are
fortunate if you are staying at Napili Sunset as it is on one of those
world class
beaches.
Water Sports
If you love the ocean, you will have lots of fun. You can spend
the morning sea kayaking, the afternoon scuba diving, and surf as the
sun sets.
Whales
Each winter, the humpback whales return to Maui. There are whale
watching boats leaving from Lahaina and Maalaea Harbors each day. They
are your best chance at a close look at the whales. From Napili
Bay, you can frequently see whales swimming, splashing and breathing.
World Class Sports
Maui is home to some of the best golf courses. Kapalua hosts the
Mercedes Open each January. Also at Kapalua is the Tennis
Garden, voted one of the best on the Islands. At Napili Sunset,
you are less than a quarter mile to Kapalua.
Excellent Shopping
On Maui there are lots and lots of shops. For groceries and
sundries, there is a Costco, Wal-Mart, several Safeway groceries,
and Long's Drugs. In Lahaina, you can purchase wonderful art,
precious gems, and intriguing scrimshaw. There are shops with
souvenirs, swim suites, boogie boards, and clothing of all kinds.
You will even find Tiffanies and Louis Vuitton.
Tropical Fruits Much of Maui's land is dedicated
to growing pineapples and sugarcane. There are many organic
farms on Maui growing everything from gourmet mushrooms, to tropical
flowers. There are fun farmer's markets to visit and buy
wonderful fruits and vegetables.
Restaurants For many, eating out is an important part of their vacation.
Maui is home to some of the world's best chefs and restaurants.
Many feature a fusion with Island and Asian flavors. You will
also find restaurants that you are familiar with, like Ruth's Chris, Hard
Rock Cafe, Pizza Hut and McDonalds. Plus many more that will
dazzle your palate.
Sight Seeing The Hawaiian Island are the most
secluded islands on the planet. Consequently, it is home to many
unique species of plants and animals, that have adapted to Maui over
the years. There are lots of fun places to explore, including an
old jail, winery, beautiful old churches, lava flows, rainforests, and
many other surprises.
